I never really listen to rap so I had to look up the lyrics since it's a little hard for me to follow. I agree that he goes into a lot of themes and this song is very emotionally packed. Nas makes a good point in the chorus, "one mic," that a lot of money doesn't matter as much as a message. And I do believe that there is one message of hope that lasts beyond life which gives an answer to the violence and injustice that Nas sings about here. I also like that he sings for all innocent life, even the unborn in the first verse.
